Disadvantages of e-mail marketing

Posted on April 17, 2008 - Filed Under Marketing |

Although e-mail marketing is a flourishing area of communication with the target audience by the advertisers, there are certain disadvantages that may lead to various problems for the users of the e-mail marketing communication. Although there are many companies that communicate with its existing customers through the e-mails, some companies send spam mails or unsolicited bulk of e-mails.

The internet system administration acts promptly to all the reports of spasms. The court of law also takes care of issues like the libel or the infringement of the official trademark. The “terms of service” of the internet companies allow the corporate advertisers to turn down the entire website to avoid spasms. This the companies can do without warning.

However, it is very difficult to distinguish between legitimate and spam e-mail marketing. Due to the increase of spam mails on the internet, there are e-mail marketing solutions that suggest the users to use spam filters. However, some marketers complain being caught in the filters; however, legitimate e-mails complaining of being caught in the spam filter are less common. There are spam laws that no website must violate like the Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited and Marketing Act etc. even then if the internet mail administrators find a company sending spasm, the company is blacklisted instantly and necessary measures are taken before further such incidents of faulty e-mail marketing. Moreover the advertisers who are using the e-mail marketing software to communicate their advertising ideas must remember to check against extra prices that the internet providers charges and should check the services against sending spam messages.
