HD Radio is Ready and Waiting for You

Posted on January 18, 2008 - Filed Under Entertainment |

More and more HD radio stations have started broadcasting, and more will be coming to your area soon. Many radio channels that are already broadcasting digitally are starting to broadcast secondary subchannels now, too. These are the HD2 channels stations are using to supplement or compliment their existing programming.

In some cases, HD2 channels offer a completely different genre, so they are almost like an entirely different radio station. For instance, there are 90 New York High Definition Radio stations currently broadcasting 146 radio channels. Each station can broadcast up to 5 subchannel stations, though the majority are only broadcasting one HD2 station.

If you still haven’t picked up an HD Radio Receiver, now is the time. There are currently about 1600 stations broadcasting some 2400 channels in HD all across the United States. Practically every genre is represented, including talk radio, classic music, rock, jazz and Christian radio.

An excellent choice for an HD receiver is the Polk i-Sonic E2 audio system. This receiver features an iPod dock with iTunes Tagging. This lets you easily keep track of what you’re listening to on HD radio and makes purchasing them through iTunes a breeze.
