Posted on July 1, 2008 - Filed Under Health |

Egg donation is a solution for the problems of infertility in women. It may happen that a woman does not have the capacity to bear any child of her own and thus has to adopt donated eggs to bear a child. Many of the females suffer from the problems of infertility as the females are incapable of producing adequate eggs or the eggs are not capable of fertilizing successfully for the woman to conceive.

The requirement of donated sperms depends on the age of the female. The early years of menopause requires an individual to require an Egg donor, as the quality and the quantity of the eggs are not appropriate. There are also some women who are biologically born without ovaries or other missing organs. Some of the persons who need an egg donor have damaged either ovaries or other organs due to certain diseases or they needed to have the reproductive organs removed to get rid of any further problems. If there is any genetic disorder in the female, then many of the couple prefers to opt for Egg donation for conceiving. Many a times the couples get personally acquainted with the family of the egg donor. Sometimes the egg donor wants to remain anonymous and do not want to reveal their identity. Many a times egg donation is also required for gay couples as they prefer opting for surrogacy.

Some of the problems that may lead to the requirement of an egg donor are as follows:

Congenital absence of eggs; turner syndrome and Gonadal dysgenesis

Acquired reduced egg quantity and quality: premature menopause, oophorectomy, radiation therapy, chemotherapy etc.

Other diseases include; diseases related to X-sex linkage, ovaries are many times inaccessible for egg retrieval and repetitive fertilization or pregnancy failure etc.
