Posted on February 1, 2008 - Filed Under Finance General |

Are you interested in improving your credit score? Maybe you’ve applied for a loan and been turned down, and you’re wondering what is in your credit report that is compromising your creditworthiness. The first thing you must do is find out where you stand.

If you recently applied for a credit card or loan and were declined, you can request a free copy of your credit report from the business or financial institution that declined you. For individuals that haven’t applied for credit or a loan but still want to obtain a copy of their credit report, you can access a Free Credit Report online.

Once you’ve accessed your free credit report, you will begin to see what if anything is compromising your ability to obtain credit. If it turns out your credit score is quite low, consider opening up an account for Secured Credit Cards. This allows you to build your credit score as you use the card without having to meet the qualifications for unsecured cards.

As your credit score improves, you will gradually receive offers for unsecured credit cards. Consider waiting until you receive several offers so you can Compare Credit Cards and benefit from the best terms.
