Level switches or liquid level switches are used to scrutinize the level of the liquids, foams, and powders in a tank or other containers. The level switches are used to find out the flow of underground water or to help in wastewater management. Level switches help a lot to perform different functions in various industries. They are available in different styles and patterns. There is the simple level switch and the complex level switch.

The simple level switch, also known as float switch, uses two magnets. One of these two magnets is placed on a floating object in the tank and rises and falls as the float does. Opposite to the float, at the side of the tank, is a reed switch. This switch reacts to the magnet. This happens as the rise and fall of the liquid leads to their becoming parallel. The magnet gives off a signal and the signal can do many activities including making a pump work to refill a water tank. There are also complex level switches. The functioning of these switches is very complex and they do no require floats. These switches use piezoelectric crystals, computerized optics, ultrasonic vibrations, radar waves, etc. to give rise to various reactions when the liquid reaches a certain level in the container. These multiple level switches perform complex actions. These switches provide two-tier safety for a tank or container. The switches enable the refilling of the tank when the level of water falls to a certain level in the tank.
