Security lighting for homes

A new form of light fixtures is in vogue these days. The security lighting fixtures alerts the residents in the case of any theft or burglary. The lighting fixture in this type comprises of a 250 or 500-watt floodlight of tungsten halogen controlled by a movement sensor that is capable of detecting the thief or the unknown person and give signals accordingly.
This type of Home lighting is very useful for the security system of the homes. The light illuminates when the criminal crosses the security boundary of the concerned house. However, the drawback of this type of alert is that the signaling is at the crucial time and no prior measures can be taken by the residents to prevent the crime. The lights are harsh and environment unfriendly and often disturbs both the neighbors and the residents itself, in a case when there is a false alarm.
Unlike the bathroom light fixtures, that consumes less electricity, the security lighting fixtures consumes a lot of power and are in need for regular bulb replacement. There is also a health related reason for which the security bulbs are not suggested. The sudden “flash factor” of the light blurs the vision for a few moments suddenly. They are equally harmful if they are positioned wrongly.
However, if they are not positioned at a safe height they are easy to tamper and are interrupted quite frequently at the slightest disturbance in the environment around the security lightings. They are often rendered unreliable by the house owners and are said to increase the fear of crime amongst the residents indirectly.
